Nancy Pelosi called Harry Reid into her office one day and said, "Harry, I have a plan to win back Middle America in 2012!"

"Great Nancy, but how?" asked Harry.

"We'll get some cheesy clothes and shoes, like most Middle Class Americans wear, then stop at the pound and pick up a Labrador retriever. Then, we'll go to a nice old country bar in Montana and show them how much admiration and respect we have for the hard working people living there."

So they did, and found just the place they were looking for in Bozeman, Montana. With the dog in tow, they walked inside and stepped up to the bar.

The Bartender took a step back and said, "Hey! Aren't you Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi?" "Yes we are!" said Nancy, "And what a lovely town you have here. We were passing through and Harry suggested we stop and take in some local color."

They ordered a round of bourbon for the whole bar, and started chatting up a storm with anyone who would listen.

A few minutes later, a grizzled old rancher came in, walked up to the Labrador, lifted up its tail, looked underneath, shrugged his shoulders and walked out. A few moments later, in came another old rancher. He walked up to the dog, lifted up its tail, looked underneath, scratched his head and left the bar. For the next hour, another dozen ranchers came in, lifted the dog's tail, and left shaking their heads.

Finally, Nancy asked, "Why did all those old ranchers come in and look under the dog's tail? Is it some sort of custom?"

"Lord no," said the bartender. "Someone's out there running around town, claiming there's a Labrador Retriever in here with two assholes!"

My guess is that the people are looking in the wrong spot.

SEVIERVILLE — A long-time member of the Sheriff’s Department was suspended for 18 hours in late November and had to undergo retraining on the safe handling of his firearm after an accidental discharge at an empty convenience store.

Cpl. Chris Huskey was reloading his weapon after showing the Glock handgun to Deputy Adam Bohanan when a routine safety maneuver led to a bullet firing through a computer monitor and into a freezer at Dunn’s Market.

In addition to missing the rest of that shift and the next, Huskey was also ordered to reimburse the owners of the store for the screen, which was replaced within eight hours of the incident.

Huskey, Bohanan and other officers who patrol that portion of the county had been given permission by the owners to visit the store after hours because there are so few places open for them to get meals or use restrooms on overnight shifts, Capt. Mike Hodges explained. As such, there was no one else in the store just after midnight on Nov. 23 when the two men began discussing an upcoming change in the weapons each deputy carries.

“Many of our sidearms are nearing the end of their useful life and it is the sheriff’s intention to replace those duty weapons with newer models that would be closer to what Cpl. Huskey carries,” Hodges said. “Deputy Bohanan asked Cpl. Huskey what the difference is between the weapons and, to demonstrate the difference in size and weight, Cpl. Huskey safely cleared his weapon and handed it to Deputy Bohanan.”

As the two men sat eating at a desk in the office area of the store, Huskey, a seven-year veteran of the department, went through an elaborate process taught to every law enforcement officer to safely clear a weapon. It involves ejecting the magazine and removing a single bullet that is loaded into the chamber. He then handed the weapon to Bohanan, who looked it over and reloaded the magazine to feel the weight difference between the weapons, a report on the incident states.

After Bohanan — who started as a deputy in 2006 — passed the weapon back, his recollection of the events indicates he reminded Huskey to reload the bullet into the chamber. Huskey did so, aiming the weapon away from himself and Bohanan, and performing an action called racking the slide where a mechanism that covers the chamber is pulled back and released to allow access for loading the ammunition. (then you are ready to fire)

“I did not realize (Bohanan) had put the magazine back into the firearm and, while pointing the firearm in a safe direction, I pulled the slide back and released it, then pulled the trigger to get ready to reload the firearm,” Huskey said in his statement on the situation.

The gun released one of the bullets in the magazine ( in other words, the mag chambered a round into the breech) when Huskey pulled the trigger, with that projectile flying through the monitor, to and through the wall of a walk-in freezer and lodging in a pack of frozen bologna, Hodges said. (why did you pull the trigger, that was stupid)

“Cpl. Huskey immediately informed the shift supervisor and the store owner of what happened, then the supervisor called me,” Hodges said. “The sheriff, our firearms safety instructor and myself met within an hour of the incident to determine what needed to be done. We also conducted a function check of Cpl. Huskey’s firearm to determine if there was anything wrong with it that could have caused a misfire. We determined the weapon was in working order.”

The group decided on the temporary suspension and retraining for Huskey, and sent both men to purchase a new computer monitor with an order to split the cost. The old one, a model from Proview, was estimated to have cost $200 in the official report.

The store owner refused reimbursement for anything else and the business did not lose any open hours as a result of the incident, Hodges said.

“It’s an embarrassing thing for these two men and it’s an embarrassing thing for the department. There’s no two ways about it,” the captain said. “People who work with firearms as much as law enforcement officers do realize it’s not a matter of if someone will have an accidental discharge but when. We’re thankful no one was injured and there was only minor damage in this case.”

I sent this to my Congressman (a Democrat):
When are you going to do something about Mr Obama taking over the powers of Congress? The Constitution is clear about the making of laws. That is YOUR job, not that of the President. Why are you allowing your Constitutional powers to be usurped via Executive Orders? You in Congress voted down the DREAM Act last fall, yet Mr Obama is now going to go beyond what was envisioned then via Executive Orders. He is overturning your votes and is making Congress into a non-entity. The Founding Fathers set our government up as a series of checks and balances but Mr Obama is trying to gather all teh power unto himself. You need to stop this attempt to take over the government by Mr Obama.

I will post whatever I get in response to this (if anything). I urge all of you to write your Congressional Representatives and ask them the same thing.

AARP Failure

This letter was sent to Mr. Rand who is the Executive Director of AARP.
THIS LADY NOT ONLY HAS A GRASP OF 'THE SITUATION' BUT AN INCREDIBLE COMMAND OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE!
Dear Mr. Rand,
Recently you sent us a letter encouraging us to renew our lapsed membership in AARP by the requested date. I know it is not what you were looking for, but this is the most honest response I can give you. Our gap in coverage is merely a microscopic symptom of the real problem, a deepening lack of faith.
While we have proudly maintained our membership for several years and have long admired the AARP goals and principles, regrettably, we can no longer endorse its abdication of our values. Your letter specifically stated that we can count on AARP to speak up for our rights, yet the voice we hear is not ours. Your offer of being kept up to date on important issues through DIVIDED WE FAIL presents neither an impartial view nor the one we have come to embrace. We do believe that when two parties agree all the time on everything presented to them, one is probably not necessary. But, when the opinions and long term goals are diametrically opposed, the divorce is imminent. This is the philosophy which spawned our 200 years of government.
Once upon a time, we looked forward to being part of the senior demographic. We also looked to AARP to provide certain benefits and give our voice a power we could not possibly hope to achieve on our own. AARP gave us a sense of belonging which we no longer enjoy. The Socialist politics practiced by the Obama Regime and empowered by AARP serves only to raise the blood pressure my medical insurance strives to contain. Clearly a conflict of interest there!
We do not understand the AARP posture, feel greatly betrayed by the guiding forces that we expected to map out our senior years and leave your ranks with a great sense of regret. We mitigate that disappointment with the relief of knowing that we are not contributing to the problem anymore by renewing our membership. There are numerous other organizations which offer discounts without threatening our way of life or offending our sensibilities.
This Obama Regime scares the living daylights out of us. Not just for ourselves, but for our proud and bloodstained heritage. But even more importantly for our children and grandchildren. Washington has rendered Soylent Green a prophetic cautionary tale rather than a nonfiction scare tactic. I have never in my life endorsed any militant or radical groups, yet now I find myself listening to them. I don't have to agree with them to appreciate the fear which birthed their existence. Their borderline insanity presents little more than a balance to the voice of the Socialist mindset in power. Congressional Reform Act of 2011

1. No tenure/no pension. A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office. 2. Congress (past, present, and future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security System immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose. 3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan just as all Americans do. 4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of the CPI or 3%. 5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people. 6. Congress must abide by all laws thay impose on the American people. 7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/12. The American people did not make these contracts with the Congressmen, Congress made them with themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s) then go home and back to their previous jobs. This is how to fix the problems with Congress.

Former Counter Terrorism Czar Richard Clarke told a leading expert on internet free speech, Stanford law professor Lawrence Lessig, that there was going to be an "i-9/11", in other words, an electronic terrorist act, and an "i-Patriot Act" to crack down on freedoms on the Internet under the guise of protecting against such threats:

There’s going to be an i-9/11 event. Which doesn’t necessarily mean an Al Qaeda attack, it means an event where the instability or the insecurity of the internet becomes manifest during a malicious event which then inspires the government into a response. You’ve got to remember that after 9/11 the government drew up the Patriot Act within 20 days and it was passed.
The Patriot Act is huge and I remember someone asking a Justice Department official how did they write such a large statute so quickly, and of course the answer was that it has been sitting in the drawers of the Justice Department for the last 20 years waiting for the event where they would pull it out.
Of course, the Patriot Act is filled with all sorts of insanity about changing the way civil rights are protected, or not protected in this instance. So I was having dinner with Richard Clarke and I asked him if there is an equivalent, is there an i-Patriot Act just sitting waiting for some substantial event as an excuse to radically change the way the internet works. He said “of course there is”.

We may have just had our i-911.
Specifically, the government is claiming that hackers defaced army and Nato websites, writing things like:
"Stop attacks u israel and usa ! you cursed nations ! one day muslims will clean the world from you ! "
This sounds a lot like the notes which were sent with the killer anthrax.If we did just have our i-911, watch out for military spokesmen, politicians and talking heads pushing for an i-Patriot Act . . . as a way to crush free speech on the web.

LulzSec is the hacker group which took down the CIA's website, the Senate website, as well as Sony and other websites.
LulzSec hasn't demanded democracy, freedom, justice or any other worthy goals. They are just attacking websites.
As CBS News quotes previous Lulz statements:

"This is the lulz lizard era, where we do things just because we find it entertaining. Watching someone's Facebook picture turn into a penis and seeing their sister's shocked response is priceless. Receiving angry emails from the man you just sent 10 dildos to because he can't secure his Amazon password is priceless. You find it funny to watch havoc unfold, and we find it funny to cause it. We release personal data so that equally evil people can entertain us with what they do with it."
Nothing even remotely political about that statement, which fits with the group's previous statements about its myriad exploits. Could it be that we're simply dealing with a group of merry pranksters with a particular delight in making cyber-life miserable for the rest of us?

Nobody really knows who LulzSec is. It is, however, rather suspicious that the group has increased its hacking activities during a period when a number of cybersecurity bills are marching through Congress.

The i-Patriot Act is waiting to be passed. See this and this. Lulzsec's shenanigans may be used as the justification to pass it.
Note: I still can't tell what the motives of the other main hacker group - Anonymous - are. They talk about freedom, justice, and empowerment. But this video raises a number of red flags for me (for example, why are people being encouraged to register on a specific website?), and I can't yet tell whether they are trying to empower people or sabotage them.

Senate Bill 176

This is a bill introduced by Barbara Boxer, D-Cal, Idiot Extrodinaire

Section 1 has the short title, "Common Sense Concealed Firearms Permit Act of 2011."

Section 2 reads as follows:

Sec. 2. Concealed Firearms Permits

(a) In General - Chapter 44 of title 18, United States Code, is amended by inserting after section 926C the following:

926D Concealed firearms permits
(a) In General - Each State that allows residents of the State to carry concealed firearms shall-
(1) establish a process to issue permits to residents of the State to carry concealed firearms; and
(2) require that each resident of the State seeking to carry a concealed firearm in the State obtain a permit through the process established under paragraph (1).
(b) Requirements - In establishing a process to issue permite to carry concealed firearms under subsection (a), a State shall-
(1)ensure that a local law enforcement agency participates in the process; and
(2) at a minimum, require that an applicant for a permit to carry a concealed firearm -
(A) be a legal resident of the United States;
(B) be not less than 21 years of age;
(C) demonstrate good cause for requesting a concealed firearm permit; and
(D) demonstrate that the applicant is worthy of the public trust to carry a concealed firearm in public.

The rest of the bill talks about using other agencies to issue permits and gives a definition for "law enforcement agency". It also says that all states will be in compliance not later than 270 days after enactment.

Note that your concealed weapons license has become a "permit" which means that the government now controls who does and does not get one. Also note that the "law enforcement agency" is what decides if you need a "permit" and are "worthy" to have one. They are trying to take away all the firearms bit by bit just like in New York or California.

Permit Holders To Be Exempt From Background Checks

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A bill that would exempt handgun permit holders from criminal background checks to buy weapons is one of two gun bills advancing in the state Senate.
The proposal sponsored by Republican Sen. Steve Southerland of Morristown was moved to the Senate Finance Committee on Tuesday after passing the Senate Judiciary Committee 8-1. The companion bill is awaiting a vote in the same committee in the House.
The other proposal sponsored by Republican Sen. Mike Bell of Riceville states that it's not an occupational hazard for employers to allow workers with handgun permits to carry their weapons at work. The measure is headed for a full Senate vote after also passing the Senate Judiciary Committee 8-1.
Another measure that would allow anyone who owns land in Tennessee to apply for a handgun permit was withdrawn from consideration.

As I put in the comment, Snopes has, in my opinion shown its true colors during the election. They called Barak Obama a Natural Born Citizen based upon a Certification of Live Birth, something that was available to anyone asking for it at the time frame. That very CLB was proven to be a fake anyway. Even I was able to spot a very glaring inconsistancy in the first 15 seconds of viewing it. If you can call it back up, look at the place for Father's Race. To my knowledge, AFRICAN has NEVER been a race. Africa is a continent, not a racial source. If anything, Barak's father would have been called a NEGRO or listed as NEGROID or MONGOLOID for that blank. Those of you who were alive at that time can remember that this is what they were called then. Be that as it may, it still makes it so that he is not eligible to be President, again because of his father. His father was a citizen of KENYA which would have made him a British subject. Since in Britain the mater of citizenship is conferred by the father, this would make Barak a British subject and not a Natural Born Citizen of the United States. So there you have at least ONE instance where Snopes did lean over to promote Obama and the leftist values. There are probably others, but this was the first to come to mind for me.

Adobe Systems, maker of a suite of graphics programs such as Adobe PDF, Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, have announced that they are building a $100 million facility in either Salt Lake City or in nearby Utah County, Utah. The facility will bring thousands of jobs to Utah over the next few decades.In May the Internet auction company ebay also announced a major new facility to be built in Salt Lake City. The $287 million data center will also bring hundreds of new jobs to Utah.

Games maker Electronic Arts opened its new facility in July in Salt Lake City where around 100 employees are already at work. There has been a steady flow of businesses out of California for the better part of a decade. As California’s liberal minded political morass worsens, as its budget woes increase, and as her politicians are proven incapable of making the hard budgetary decisions to take power from unions and chop unnecessarily lavish social programs, the state’s jobs are bleeding out. • iPhone photos are embedded with GEO tags and identifying information, meaning that photos posted online might not only include GPS coordinates of where the picture was taken, but also the serial number of the phone that took it.

• Even more information is stored by the applications themselves, including the user's browser history. That data is meant in part to direct custom-tailored advertisements to the user, but experts said some of it could be useful to police.

Clearing out user histories isn't enough to clean the device of that data. The bill (HB3125) is intended to remove objections to a law approved last year that was subsequently struck down by a Nashville judge as too vague. Sponsor Rep. Curry Todd, R Collierville, makes it clear that guns are allowed in all establishments serving alcohol unless every entrance is posted by the owner with a sign prohibiting them.

The District of Columbia's murder rate plummeted by an astounding 25 percent last year, much faster than for the US as a whole or for similarly sized cities. If you had asked Chicago's Mayor Daley, that wasn't supposed to happen. The Supreme Court's 2008 decision to strike down DC's handgun ban and gunlock requirements should have lead to a surge in murders, with Wild West shootouts. The Supreme Court might keep Daley's predictions in mind today as they hear the oral arguments on Tuesday in the Chicago handgun ban case. Mayor Daley was wrong, very wrong the facts prove it.

The decision should come sometime in June, then a lot of gun restrictions, laws, the way they are judged will all be forever changed. I predict a major setback for the ANTI GUN people.

Bloom Energy Corporation which was founded by K.R. Sridhar in 2001 was featured on “60 Minutes” .So what is Bloom Energy Fuel Cell you ask? Well according to the company ,the bloom box has the capacity to convert natural gas or other fuels into electricity.The goal is to have you/your home or your business generate your own electricity with the wireless box.

A new federal law will go into effect,Monday February 2010 Midnight, removing the ban on firearms in national parks. The legislation instead makes the parks subject to state laws. In Tennessee, that means handgun permit holders will be free to enjoy the Smokies while armed. Firearms will still be banned in visitor's centers and park offices.

Firearms and Ammunition - As introduced, creates various gun show offenses, including prohibiting any person who is not a licensed firearms dealer from transferring a firearm to another person if any part of the transfer takes place at a gun show or within 1,000 feet of a gun show. - Amends TCA Title 39, Chapter 17.

Bill Summary

This bill makes it a Class A misdemeanor for any person to organize, plan, promote, or operate a gun show unless that person:

(1) Notifies the TBI and the chief law enforcement officer in the county in which the gun show is to be held of the dates, times, and location of the gun show; (this is crazy, a lot of law enforcement officers, Sheriff, deputies, Police officers, even FEDERAL agents, ATF, FBI and one time the local Federal D.A. showed up at a Knoxville Show. So why notify them when they attend anyway....)

(2) Verifies the identity of each gun show dealer participating in the gun show by examining a valid photo identification document of the dealer, before commencement of the gun show;
(3) Requires each gun show dealer to sign a ledger with information identifying the dealer, including the dealer's name and address, before commencement of the gun show; and

(4) Maintains a copy of the records described above in (2) and (3) at the gun show promoter's permanent place of business for one year from the date of the gun show.

This bill also makes it a Class A misdemeanor for any person who is not licensed under federal law to engage in the business of importing, manufacturing, or dealing in firearms, or importing or manufacturing ammunition, to transfer a firearm to another person if any part of the transfer takes place at a gun show, on the premises of a gun show, or within 1,000 feet of the property on which a gun show is being conducted.
WHAT?
Under this bill, "gun show" means any event at which 50 or more firearms are offered or exhibited for sale, transfer, or exchange and at least 20 percent of the vendors are engaged in the business of selling, leasing, or transferring firearms and are licensed under federal law as described above.

IF the law is passed..... The bill would take effect on January 1, 2011. How about the people of Memphis just vote this idiot out of office.

3. Love those flowers. That tells me you have taste ... and taste means there are nice things inside. Nice expensive cars are a dead giveaway of good stuff inside. Those yard toys your kids leave out always make me wonder what type of gaming system they have.

4. Yes, I really do look for newspapers piled up on the driveway. And I might leave a pizza flyer in your front door to see how long it takes you to remove it.

5. If it snows while you're out of town, get a neighbor to create car and foot tracks into the house. Virgin drifts in the driveway are a dead giveaway.

6. If decorative glass is part of your front entrance, don't let your alarm company install the control pad where I can see if it's set. That makes it too easy.

7. A good security company alarms the window over the sink. And the windows on the second floor, which often access the master bedroom -- and your jewelry. It's not a bad idea to put motion detectors up there too.

8. It's raining, you're fumbling with your umbrella, and you forget to lock your door-understandable . But understand this: I don't take a day off

because of bad weather.

9. I always knock first. To see if you answer, I'll ask for directions somewhere or offer to clean your gutters. (Don't take me up on it.) Sometimes I just throw a small rock at your door while I hide , just to see what happens.

10. Do you really think I won't look in your sock drawer? I always check dresser drawers, the bedside table, nightstands,closets, and the medicine cabinet.

11. Here's a helpful hint: I rarely go into kids' rooms.

12. You're right: I won't have enough time to break into that safe where you keep your valuables. But if it's not bolted down, I'll take it with me. Drill holes on the inside of the small safe and BOLT it to the FLOOR, this makes it nearly impossible to take with me.

13. A loud TV or radio can be a better deterrent than the best alarm system. It's difficult to tell if there is anyone home , naping or watching TV or listening to the radio. If you're reluctant to leave your TV on while you're out of town, you can buy a $35 device that works on a timer and simulates the flickering glow of a real television.   (Find it at faketv.com .)

1.   Sometimes, I carry a clipboard.   Sometimes, I dress like a lawn guy and carry a rake or the guy who wants to reseal your driveway.   I do my best to never, ever look like a crook.
2.   The things I hate most: BIG loud dogs , video cameras , ADT or Alarm company signs, high chain link fences around your property,and nosy neighbors. I really hate to see empty shell casings laying around, and targets with big holes in them, that scares the crap outta me. I will go find a house where the owner does not have a gun.
3.   I'll break a window to get in, even if it makes a little noise.   If your neighbor hears one loud sound, he'll stop what he's doing and wait to hear it again.   If he doesn't hear it again, he'll just go back to what he was doing.   It's human nature. However, if the cops show up pretty quick, I will just leave this house alone, its not worth it.
4.   I'm not complaining, but why would you pay all that money for a fancy alarm system and leave your house without setting it? USE IT.
5.   I love looking in your windows.   I'm looking for signs that you're home, and for flat screen TVs or gaming systems I'd like.   I'll drive or walk through your neighborhood at night, before you close the blinds, just to pick my targets.
6.   Avoid announcing your vacation on your Facebook page.   It's easier than you think to look up your address. This is pretty stupid.
7.   To you, leaving that window open just a crack during the day is a way to let in a little fresh air.   To me, it's an invitation.
8.   If you don't answer when I knock, I try the door.   Occasionally, I hit the jackpot and walk right in. What scares me the most is a armed homeowner.
9.   Don't put a mourning wreath or some other sign of bereavement on your front door.   We check obituaries and funeral times, and if something looks promising we'll hit during the funeral.   Do you really need a double tragedy?

ALL new handgun permit applicants AND Persons RENEWING a permit, must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residency unless such applicant has already provided this proof and it is documented on their driver license record. HINT. Get a State Certified copy of your birth certificate, if you were born in Tennessee , your local Health Dept. can get you one within minutes , cost is about $8.00

Tennessee handgun carry permit law will now allow certain applicants already exempt from complying with firing range provisions of the current statute to also be exempt from any classroom requirements. Those current exceptions are applicants who prove to the department that within five (5) years from the date of application for handgun permit, the applicant has:

1. Been certified by the police officer's standards and training commission, or successfully completed training at the law enforcement training academy; or successfully completed the firearms training course required for armed security guards; or

2. successfully completed all handgun training of not less than four (4) hours as required by any branch of the military.

        * Applicants are required to be a resident of the State of Tennessee;
        * Be at least twenty-one (21) years of age;
        * Applicants shall not have been convicted of any felony offense punishable for a term exceeding one (1) year;
        * Applicants shall not currently be under indictment or information for any criminal offense punishable by a term exceeding one (1) year;
        * Shall not be currently the subject of any order of protection;
        * Shall not be a fugitive from justice;
        * Shall not be an unlawful user of or addicted to alcohol or any controlled substance and the applicant has not been a patient in a rehabilitation program or hospitalized for alcohol or controlled substance abuse or addiction within ten (10) years from the date of application;
        * The applicant has not been convicted of the offense of driving under the influence of an intoxicant in this or any other State two (2) or more times within ten (10) years from the date of application and that none of such convictions has occurred within five (5) years from the date of application or renewal.
        * Shall not have been adjudicated as mental defective; has not been committed to or hospitalized in a mental institution; has not had a court appoint a conservator for the applicant by reason of a mental defect; has not been judicially determined to be disabled by reason of a mental illness, development disability or other mental incapacity; and has not, within seven (7) years from the date of application, been found by a court to pose an immediate substantial likelihood of serious harm, as defined in Title 33, Chapter 6, Part 5, because of mental illness;
        * Shall not be an alien illegally or unlawfully in the United States;
        * Shall not have been discharged from the Armed Forces under dishonorable conditions (dishonorable discharge, bad conduct discharge or other than honorable discharge Chapter 1340-2-5-.02 (5);
        * Having been a citizen of the United States, applicants shall not have renounced their            citizenship;
        * Shall not have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence as defined in 18 U.S.C.A. 921 (33);
        * Shall not be receiving social security disability benefits by reason of alcohol dependence, drug dependence or mental disability;
        * Shall not have been convicted of the offense of stalking;

ANY FELONY WILL DISQUALIFY YOU. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Requirements for Obtaining a Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit
Applicant shall submit proof of the successful completion of a department approved Handgun Safety Course within the past six (6) months. Call (615) 251-8590 to find out locations and phone numbers of schools.

Submit application at any Driver License Exam Station location.
Applicant is required to present a photo ID to the department at the time of filing the application.

Pay $115 non-refundable application fee payable by cash or certified check.
Applicant will be given a toll free number to call and schedule a fingerprint appointment.
Incomplete applications cannot be processed.
FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.

PROCESSING.......
Applications are received and reviewed in the Handgun Carry Permit Office.
Proper documentation is forwarded to three (3) different agencies: (TBI, FBI, County Sheriff).
Upon a name search approval from TBI, the permit can be issued within ninety (90) days from date of application. So prepare to WAIT.... and WAIT... and wait...
Upon issuance, the handgun carry permit will be mailed to the applicant.
Incomplete applications cannot be processed.
If you have any doubt, I would call the dept of saftey before wasting the money if you don't think you qualify under the above terms.

Yes you can carry openly in Tennessee, but if you see a cop , expect to be required to show your permit.

Informing Law Enforcement of Carry:

You do not have to inform an officer you are armed, but if requested you must show your permit to the officer. He can also disarm you if he feels it is "reasonablly necessary" for his safety, your safety or the safety of others.

T.C.A. 39-17-1351(n)(1)
Except as provided in subdivision (n)(2), a permit issued pursuant to this section shall be good for four (4) years and shall entitle the permit holder to carry any handgun or handguns that the permit holder legally owns or possesses. The permit holder shall have the permit in the holder's immediate possession at all times when carrying a handgun and shall display the permit on demand of a law enforcement officer.

Automobile carry:

Public Chapter 431 – Loaded Rifles and Shotguns in Vehicles – This act allows a person with a handgun carry permit to possess a loaded rifle or loaded shotgun in a privately owned vehicle. The act provides that the weapon cannot have ammunition in the chamber ( you can have the magazine fully loaded or the tube, just NOT ONE IN THE CHAMBER) except in the case that an individual permit holder feels physically threatened. YES rifles include a AR-15 and the AK-47, Shotguns include Mossberg 500 and any and all Semi Auto shotguns, and double barrels. This adds some serious firepower to the common Tennessee Citizen. Be smart, be safe, be responsible and be nice. Let's not screw up our rights here.

Oxford scientists have created a transparent form of aluminium by bombarding the metal with the world’s most powerful soft X-ray laser. 'Transparent aluminium' previously only existed in science fiction, featuring in the movie Star Trek IV, but the real material is an exotic new state of matter with implications for planetary science and nuclear fusion.

In this week’s Nature Physics an international team, led by Oxford University scientists, report that a short pulse from the FLASH laser ‘knocked out’ a core electron from every aluminium atom in a sample without disrupting the metal’s crystalline structure. This turned the aluminium nearly invisible to extreme ultraviolet radiation.

''What we have created is a completely new state of matter nobody has seen before,’ said Professor Justin Wark of Oxford University’s Department of Physics, one of the authors of the paper. ‘Transparent aluminium is just the start. The physical properties of the matter we are creating are relevant to the conditions inside large planets, and we also hope that by studying it we can gain a greater understanding of what is going on during the creation of 'miniature stars' created by high-power laser implosions, which may one day allow the power of nuclear fusion to be harnessed here on Earth.’

The discovery was made possible with the development of a new source of radiation that is ten billion times brighter than any synchrotron in the world (such as the UK’s Diamond Light Source). The FLASH laser, based in Hamburg, Germany, produces extremely brief pulses of soft X-ray light, each of which is more powerful than the output of a power plant that provides electricity to a whole city.

The Oxford team, along with their international colleagues, focused all this power down into a spot with a diameter less than a twentieth of the width of a human hair. At such high intensities the aluminium turned transparent.

Whilst the invisible effect lasted for only an extremely brief period - an estimated 40 femtoseconds - it demonstrates that such an exotic state of matter can be created using very high power X-ray sources. Another LINK HERE

Professor Wark added: ‘What is particularly remarkable about our experiment is that we have turned ordinary aluminium into this exotic new material in a single step by using this very powerful laser. For a brief period the sample looks and behaves in every way like a new form of matter. In certain respects, the way it reacts is as though we had changed every aluminium atom into silicon: it’s almost as surprising as finding that you can turn lead into gold with light!’

The researchers believe that the new approach is an ideal way to create and study such exotic states of matter and will lead to further work relevant to areas as diverse as planetary science, astrophysics and nuclear fusion power.

A report of the research, 'Turning solid aluminium transparent by intense soft X-ray photoionization', is published in Nature Physics. The research was carried out by an international team led by Oxford University scientists Professor Justin Wark, Dr Bob Nagler, Dr Gianluca Gregori, William Murphy, Sam Vinko and Thomas Whitcher.

Firearms Freedom Act & States Rights- 10th Amendment.

More than 35 states have passed, or are considering, a resolution to remind the federal government there is a limit to central government power. That limit was set forth in the 10th amendment, part of the Bill of Rights Patrick Henry and others wanted added to the US Constitution.

When Montana and Tennessee proclaimed that any gun manufactured within their respective borders didn't fall under any federal law, that's what the problem is according to the gov.
The Obama administration is raising the stakes in a fight over states' rights and firearm ownership by arguing that new pro-gun laws in Montana and Tennessee are invalid. Tennessee's law already has taken effect. They join with Utah, Texas, South Carolina Florida, Alaska Louisania North Carolina , Vermont, Georgia Virgina and more, who are considering it in an effort to limit federal regulation of guns, and specifically invoke the 9th and 10th Amendments as restrictions on federal power.

The BATF's letter on July 16 to firearms manufacturers and dealers in the state says "federal law requires a license to engage in the business of manufacturing firearms or ammunition, or to deal in firearms, even if the firearms or ammunition remain within the same state." LETTER HERE

The Tenth Amendment says that "powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

The Tennessee Legislature wrapped up it's 2009 session last week. This was the first session in a long time that didn't have Jimmy Naifeh presiding (and killed bills he didn't like), so there was a lot of progress as far as gun rights legislation is concerned.

In fact, there were so many gun-related bills this session it sometimes seemed that all the legislature was concerned with were guns and personal orders. The reason there were so many gun bills this session, of course, was because every bill that the former speaker had killed in the past was reintroduced.

Confusing to say the least. Despite reports yesterday that the ‘guns-in-parks’ bill would be pulled under a veto threat from the Governor, the bill will not be recalled.Rep. Frank Niceley did recall the bill in the House yesterday but that recall was contingent on the Senate sponsor, Sen. Mae Beavers doing the same. Beavers will not recall the bill. There is no deal.

Governor Bredesen said as much yesterday. The Governor said he was told that the sponsors of the bill had on their own decided to “clean up” the bill. And that he had made no threats and no deals.

Rep. Niceley said yesterday that he was recalling the bill to eliminate the section that allows permit holders to carry in city and county parks while allowing armed permit holders to enter state parks. Niceley said in exchange that Bredesen agreed not to veto any more gun legislation including an amendment that would prevent local governments from trying to avoid the ‘guns in bars’ law via their ability to regulate alcoholic beverages. If Governor Bredesen does wish to veto the bill he must do so by midnight tonight (June 12 2009) other wise it WILL BECOME LAW

Senate Bill 576, sponsored by State Senator Doug Jackson (R- 25), allows a person who has a valid Right-to-Carry permit to carry a firearm into restaurants where alcohol may be served, as long as the permit holder is not consuming alcohol or is not otherwise prohibited by posting provisions.

This bill has been passed and will become LAW ON JULY 14 2009.

GET IT RIGHT, even with this bill being passed into law , you still CAN NOT DRINK and be armed with a GUN.
Legally. The news media seems to play upon fear and hysteria, they are not telling you the complete story. A business can still ban weapons inside their business, but we DON'T have to patronize them. Do we?

Tennessee Proposes New Gun Law Similar to Montana New Gun Law. Tennessee legislators have started a bill that would exempt all firearms made in Tennessee from federal gun laws if the weapons were intended to remain in Tennessee. This is extremely similar to the new gun law already signed into law in Montana. Utah and other states intend to follow with a similar bill. This is a way to stop the Federal government from doing any more gun control. LINK HERE

Tennessee : Bill to allow weapons carry in State Parks. House Bill 716, sponsored by State Representative Frank Niceley (R-17), would allow any resident who has a valid handgun carry permit to possess a handgun while within the boundaries of any state park. Follow it here

Tennessee prohibits the micro stamping of ammo and weapons from being sold within the state boundary... House Bill 962, HB962 would enable a person who has a valid Right-to-Carry permit to carry a firearm into restaurants where alcohol may be served, as long as the permit holder is not consuming alcohol or is not otherwise prohibited by posting provisions.
READY FOR THE GOV. to SIGN.

House Bill 70, sponsored by State Representative Henry Fincher (D-42), would remove the prohibition against using deadly force in protection of personal property. It also expands your right to self defense to a business. SIGNED and becomes LAW on JULY 1, 2009.

House Bill 254, sponsored by State Representative Glen Casada (R-63), would delete the requirement to give a thumbprint as part of the background check process when purchasing a firearm. SIGNED and becomes LAW on JULY 1, 2009

UPDATE READ:

HB0716 which will allow handgun permit holders in Tennessee to carry in state and federal parks (well as of 2/10) passes the Senate and the House. One HUGE downside to the new law, unless vetoed, is that local governments can vote by RESOLUTION (not an ordinance) to close an entire local park. It will now be up to local citizens to contact their local government officials to demand that the parks stay open.

HB0390 which will allow a handgun permit holder to transport a loaded rifle or shotgun - so long as there is no round in the chamber - has passed the Senate and passed the House tonight. Its on its way to the governor for his signature and to become law.

National Park Carry has passed both houses.

The US House passed it today, the US Senate passed it yesterday, we only hope now that Obama doesn't veto it... This is tied in with the credit card reform package bill .

The Bush Administration rule required among other things that:
The gun owner have a concealed carry license.
The gun owner carry a handgun concealed.
The state in which the park was located had to allow carry in state parks.

The Brady Campaign sued and successfully blocked this in the federal courts.

Coburn’s amendment goes much further:

The Secretary of the Interior shall not promulgate or enforce any regulation that prohibits an individual from possessing a firearm including an assembled or functional firearm in any unit of the National Park System or the National Wildlife Refuge System if–
(1) the individual is not otherwise prohibited by law from possessing the firearm; and
(2) the possession of the firearm is in compliance with the law of the State in which the unit of the National Park System or the National Wildlife Refuge System is located.

Thus Arizonans without a license can now carry any firearm openly (Note* Tennessee has a Carry Permit, NOT a CONCEALED PERMIT, so by State law Tennesseans could carry openly too) in their national parks and Texans can now carry rifles and shotguns openly (and handguns in their cars without a license) in their national parks since those activities are in compliance with the law outside the Park.

This must cause the Brady Campaign to have nightmares-

What I do is when the system has all the bookmarks I need or want , I EXPORT HTML to a folder where I can find it. Should the need arise to reinstall the bookmarks , all you have to do is.. IMPORT HTML from the folder you placed them in... very easy.

If you have a web page or Blog you might just upload them from time to time , in case something goes wrong with a hard drive or your pc., Sometimes being plain and simple is the best way.

OR you can do this:

The Administration is Not Dealing Straight With Us on Mexico's Gun Problem

Let's set things straight right up front. Yes, some guns are being smuggled into Mexico from the U.S. Most are handguns. But, handguns are being illegally trafficked from state to state and from the U.S. to Canada. It should come as no surprise that guns are smuggled into Mexico. But, the problem being portrayed by the U.S. media and our government is not as it seems. You see, Mexico doesn't allow ownership of most firearms, so ordinary Mexican people seeking self-protection will find a way to get them into Mexico. As for the drug cartels operating in the border towns along the U.S., they have other sources for their weapons and have become the prime supplier within Mexico.

I worked in Mexico in a border town for about five years. It was far enough from San Diego County in the Sonora Desert of Mexico that commuting several hundred miles daily was impossible. So, for a few years I lived in the city and commuted home periodically on some weekends. As crime grew out of control, I eventually moved into a place on the U.S. side and commuted daily in and out of Mexico for my own safety.

I stayed in Mexico for a Mexican holiday my first year. I don't recall the holiday. Normally, I would leave Mexico for a holiday, but it was in the middle of the week and one day was not long enough to come home. All I know is that on that particular Mexican holiday, Mexicans love to fire guns into the air. That evening as I sat on the balcony of my hotel, the gun fire that erupted in celebration was quite unbelievable. It was so intense I backed off the balcony and watched the festivities from a couple three feet in the room. We're talking war-like firing of weapons, it was that intense.

As I listened that night to the gun fire, I was somewhat shocked at the amount of fully automatic gun fire. It wasn't sporadic. It was continuous throughout the city. For a country that bans guns I thought, how in the world did they get their hands on all these full-auto weapons? Clearly what sounded like M16 fire was prolific along with 7.62 x 39 AK autos with a smattering of smaller caliber full-autos, most likely 9mm. Gun fire can be heard in most American cities on New Years, but I've never heard full-auto weapons being fired, at least not in the San Diego area.

The next day I went into work and sat down with a trusted senior Mexican manager. I looked at him and said, "I thought guns were illegal in Mexico." He chuckled and said, "So you stayed in town last night?" As the conversation progressed, it became clear that guns are as common in Mexico as tamales at Christmas. Everyone he knows, including himself, own at least one gun. And, it matters not whether it's a semi-auto or fully automatic, they're all illegal, so why stop with semi-autos? Though clearly illegal in the states in most instances, a lot of Mexicans have more firepower in terms of military weapons than we can only dream of owning here.

As time went on, parties in the city at middle class Mexican homes become a way of life. Most Mexican managers in the plant knew I was a gun wonk. As it turns out, they couldn't wait to invite me over to their place on a Friday night to show me their collection. Semi-autos, some very high-end Sigs and other European handguns were not uncommon along with piles of old revolvers. I thought I had seen everything in the states, but in Mexico it's not uncommon for people to own full-auto military rifles. Everything from an M16, UZI machine pistols and the most popular, select-fire AK47 military rifles. These are not the so-called "assault weapons" you can buy at the local gun shop in the U.S., but full select-fire military-issue rifles. Now, I know you want to know and are dying to ask; Did I see any U.S. military-issue weapons stolen from the U.S. military? Not a single one was marked with U.S. military markings. Everything was marked with additional foreign markings on the receiver, including M16 rifles, or they had nothing at all. I saw firearms manufactured in Europe, China, Russia and South America along with U.S. manufactured weapons. I saw rifles that looked familiar with no place of manufacture, no serial number or manufacturer's logo. The information was not removed, it was never there to begin with. I can only assume they came from illegal arms manufacturers in India or Pakistan that produce copies of weapons. It was obvious that none of these firearms came from a U.S. gun shop in Tucson or San Diego. You couldn't buy them from a gun shop in the states if you tried.

It seems Mexicans have a rich heritage of firearms ownership prior to the ban in 1968. Despite the laws against owning them, they ignore it. Most Mexicans will say they need it for personal protection of themselves and their family. The other reason is they don't trust the government or local law enforcement. If they have to use it in their home for self-defense, whether they end up in jail is all dependent on how much money they can come up with, or who they know in the government. It also depends on who they shoot. But, given the alternative with high crime rates, most middle class Mexicans willingly and without reservations take the risk. Despite being able to own .22 caliber pistols or rifles, Mexican law requires them to be stored at an approved firing range. Where's the firing range I asked many times? No one knew of one. Where's the gun stores in town to buy legal guns? Gun stores? No one ever recalled seeing one anywhere in Mexico, let alone their city. I'm sure somewhere, maybe in Mexico City you might be able to buy a gun, but not in this city of almost 1.5 million residents. And the gun traffickers know it.

Where do ordinary Mexicans get their weapons? Most buy them from a 'friend' or a friend of a friend or cousin or uncle. Where the friend gets them is not talked about. But, it seems that drug cartels in Mexico are heavily involved in gun trafficking of military weapons and related hardware. And, who are these ordinary Mexicans? They range from people who work in factories as managers and senior managers, government workers, doctors, dentists and anyone with the financial means to buy a firearm. I even ran into a couple of government bureaucrats, one a lawyer for the federal government who owns firearms. He confirmed that people he knew in the government, some very highly ranked bureaucrats and politicians all own illegal firearms. The other works for the Mexican equivalent of the IRS. It's a way of life in Mexico. It seemed to me that you aren't in the 'in-crowd' in Mexico unless you own at least one firearm. I was amazed at the whole thing after believing for years that gun ownership in Mexico was non-existent. That is hardly the case.

All this flies in the face of news articles published by the U.S. media in the last week or two. Mexico's gun problems are a direct result of gun runners buying "assault weapons" in the U.S. and taking them into Mexico to arm drug cartels, says the U.S. media and government. That is a bunch of government and media nonsense. The cartels aren't arming themselves from U.S. gun stores with semi-auto AR15 and AK47 rifles. They've moved on up. Not to completely dismiss arms moving into Mexico from the U.S., but it is not as it seems when the U.S. media tells the story. The firearms moving across the border are semi-auto rifles and handguns sold to middle class or wealthy Mexicans seeking personal protection from criminals that have no connections in Mexico with gun runners. For the most part the wealthy in Mexico are targets of criminal elements, so they have no intention of connecting up with them to buy a self-defense firearm. You're better off buying a weapon from someone within the Mexican government than buying it from the criminal element, namely a drug cartel.

Cartels buy their arms from countries around the world, most any place where military weapons can be purchased on the black market, or from countries wishing to destabilize North America. They arm themselves from a worldwide black market of full auto military weapons including grenades, land mines and RPGs. They also "procure" their weapons from the less than savory from within the Mexican military.

The drug cartels can easily afford to fly their weaponry into Mexico using their own fleet of aircraft on to remote airfields, or land them on remote Mexican shores from their fleet of vessels. They do it with drugs all of the time. Drug cartels buying semi-auto AR15 or AK rifles from U.S. gun dealers is viewed as a joke by Mexico's drug cartel, most Mexicans, and unfortunately by the Mexican government. The only people fooled by all the political rhetoric are Americans listening to the likes of Attorney General Eric Holder and other anti-gun politicians.

Mexico has a gun problem, just like they have a drug problem and both the U.S. and Mexican governments are trying to place the blame on U.S. gun owners. U.S. gun owners aren't the problem. Mexico is the problem. The government is corrupt from the lowest level law enforcement officer shaking down American tourists for traffic violations, to officials and politicians highly placed within the Mexican government, including elements within the military. Everyone knows it. Everyone in Mexico knows it. Every law enforcement official in the U.S. knows it, and everyone in our government knows it. And anyone who has worked for any length of time within border cities and lived in the local community knows it. This is taking a Mexican problem, blaming the U.S. by turning it into a crisis in order further an agenda, and Eric Holder and President Obama knows it and they are taking advantage of it.

The next time you see a news report of illegal full-auto weapons and grenades being found here in the U.S., you know where they came from. It wasn't from a gun store in Tucson or Phoenix. The administration is right that gun trafficking along the U.S./Mexico border is a problem. Not only do we have drugs and illegal aliens coming in our southern border, but we also have military arms and explosives coming into our country illegally as well. That's the issue and our government is being disingenuous in its argument.

If you, like thousands of other Americans, have Googled to find out why we are in the middle of a nationwide ammunition shortage.

In it, a poorly researched Associated Press story by Estes Thompson that claimed the military's consumption of ammunition was responsible for police ammunition shortages here in the United States. Few things could have been further from the truth, but it seems rather apparent, in retrospect, that the goal of that AP article wasn't to find the truth as much as it was to (falsely) lay blame for the police ammunition shortages at the feet of George W. Bush.

The real fact of the matter is that the military got the bulk of its small arms (pistol, rifle, machine gun) ammunition from one contracted ammunition plant, and that plant wasn't even running near capacity. The military's consumption clearly wasn't to blame, and anecdotal evidence and statements from ammunition manufacturers strongly suggested that police departments themselves caused the 2007 ammunition shortage by purchasing far more ammunition than they had in the past.

But what is causing our current ammunition shortages here in 2009?
Much of the demand comes from continued high law enforcement demand, the same demand that led to shortages two years ago. Police agencies around the nation have become more militarized in recent years and two trends within this militarization have led to greater police ammunition demand.

An increase in the size and number of paramilitary police units
Once upon a time, highly trained, heavily armed police units with alphabet-soup acronyms such as SWAT, SRT, SRU, or ERT were generally found as part of large, metropolitan police departments. Today, law enforcement agencies of every size — including some university police forces — have SWAT-type units armed with some combination of submachine guns, assault rifles, and sniper rifles to add to the traditional compliment of pistols and shotguns. To become proficient to the level expected of these units, each officer must fire thousands of rounds in training every year. The cost of this is on the taxpaying citizens of that particular community. Didn't the NAZI's do this too?

An increase in the use of "patrol carbines" in law enforcement "Called Assault Rifles if CITIZENS own them."

Some agencies prefer to call them "patrol carbines"; others refer to them as "tactical rifles." But whatever you call them, rifles based upon the AR-15 are becoming increasingly common as a weapon deployed to police officers outside of SWAT units, for some very logical reasons. AR-type rifles extend the range at which patrol officers can engage armed criminals, and because rifles have more practical accuracy than pistols, they can potentially reduce the number of shots fired to neutralize a suspect. Paired with the right kind of ammunition, the .223 Remington/5.56mm caliber rifle also has surprisingly less over-penetration, theoretically reducing threats to civilians who might be downrange. Each of these weapons will also require officers carrying them to fire hundreds of rounds in training each year, and in a city that rotates rifles from one shift to another among their patrol units, this can necessitate tens of thousands of rounds of training ammunition.

Fears of draconian gun and ammunition restrictions
The 2008 elections that saw the Democratic Party extend their power in both houses of Congress and saw Barack Obama elected president made gun owners very nervous, and with good reason.

We have a president that has favored gun bans and who desires to reinstate the horribly flawed 1994 assault weapons ban authored by our rather dim vice president. We also have radically anti-gun majority leaders in both the House of Representatives and Senate, and a Congress quite willing to pass massive, bloated laws without even bothering to read the contents. Fears of encroachment are certainly warranted.

Economic instability
As economies become unstable and people lose jobs, crime rates go up. It is an economic fact of life. Many people who are worried about an increase in crime arm themselves during economic downturns, leading to an increased demand for firearms and ammunition.

As a result of all of these factors, manufacturers of firearms and ammunition saw demand increase to unprecedented levels as civilians have made a run on the kind of firearms they suspect that gun control advocates presently in charge will try to outlaw.

This includes all handguns, all semi-automatic rifles (especially those targeted by the 1994 assault weapons bill that expired in 2004), and most semi-automatic shotguns.

Matt Reams of Sierra Bullets noted that after the 2008 presidential election demand shot up 50%-100% for bullets used by handguns or rifles in military calibers, and says, "Law enforcement has seemed to increase quite a bit the last year or so. The individuals jumped in after the elections and pushed our orders over the top when we were already running in high gear."

Federal Premium/ATK is the largest ammunition manufacturer in the world, running the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant for the U.S. military under contract; it also is a major supplier of law enforcement and civilians. In a statement, the company noted "unprecedented demand" for law enforcement ammunition. While other corporations are presently laying off workers and shutting down operations, ATK is in the middle of capital improvements to further increase production capability.

Rick Shoupe of PMC Ammunition, which has a more civilian-focused market for his company's products, reflected in his explanation:

Shortly before the presidential election the dam broke as far as U.S. gun and ammunition sales are concerned. I believe it is a reaction by the general public because of two main reasons. Number one, the political environment which results from the attitudes about gun control in the majority of Congress and the president himself. They are anti-gun. Number two, the current financial crisis in the U.S. has added to the frenzy, causing again the general public to want some sort of personal protection. Just in case they need it.

We are seeing a bubble in demand like I have never seen before and I have been in this business for 35 years. This demand is in addition to the military and law enforcement that also continues. PMC has expanded production to try and handle as much of the demand as it can before the demand starts to drop. Even so, the first scent of legislation being introduced to Congress will light another candle in the demand for these products. It will not end until the legislation is passed.

Individual shooters are stockpiling thousands of rounds of ammunition because of fears of future punitive taxation or outright bans of certain kinds of ammunition. Law enforcement agencies are also stockpiling ammunition to make sure they have enough on hand to meet training requirements. The shortage we are seeing is the result of both agencies and private citizens hoarding the most sought-after ammunition.

Thus, this shortage is the result of an accordion effect that has developed over the past few years.

Law enforcement agencies have been rapidly increasing their ammunition consumption because of how they are rearming, causing a permanent increase in demand. Just as ammunition manufacturers began to cope with that increase, a second run, based upon a downward-turning economy and rising fears of laws targeting gun and ammunition, dramatically expanded demand yet again.

Shortages of ammunition and firearms can be expected to continue for as long as it appears our overreaching federal government is a threat to our individual liberties, our economy continues to falter, and our police agencies keep militarizing.............. It’s going to be a long ride.

But, back during The Great Depression, President Herbert Hoover ordered the deportation of ALL illegal aliens in order to make jobs available to American citizens that desperately needed work.

Harry Truman deported over two million Illegal's after WWII to create jobs for returning veterans. And then again in 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower deported 13 million Mexican nationals! The program was called 'Operation Wetback' so that American WWII and Korean veterans had a better chance at jobs. It took 2 Years, but they deported them!

I don't drink, or go to bars, so the first one is a non issue with me, but imagine carrying a loaded AR15 or Shotgun around in the car. I don't think I will carry a rifle or shotgun in my vehicle , but now in Tennessee you have that option. ONLY if you have a VALID Handgun carry permit. HCP not a CCW (concealed carry) because Tennessee is an open carry state.

House Bill 962 by Rep. Curry Todd, R-Collierville, allows permit holders to bring their weapons into establishments selling alcohol, provided they are not drinking alcohol themselves. (I think this was meant for restaurants that serve food and alcohol ). . .

AND..... "Judiciary Committee members approved House Bill 390, which allows handgun permit holders to have a loaded rifle, loaded shotgun or loaded magazine or clip in a vehicle."

Looks like the Tennessee Handgun Permit data base is going to be closed for good. It will be closed and its about time.

Last week I asked my students to write down the most difficult question they could imagine about God. While there were some great questions about evil, other religions, and reincarnation, the question that most caught my attention was about the historical Jesus. “In our age of science,” one girl asked, “Can we really believe that Jesus died 2,000 years ago, was buried for three days, and then came back to life? And if so, what does it matter?” I told her that if she is an open-minded person who wants to follow the evidence, then she would likely find the evidence both compelling and hopeful.

The Possibility of Miracles
Some people discount the possibility of the resurrection because it is a miracle. After all, isn’t the world a closed system of cause and effect? Obviously, if miracles are impossible then the resurrection must have a natural explanation (e. g. Jesus had a twin who died in his place, or the story is just a legend). But why begin with the assumption that miracles are impossible? How can we know—without some prior evidence for the non-existence of God—that miracles cannot happen? After all, if God created the world simply by speaking it into existence, then it should be easy for him to raise someone from the dead. The question of the resurrection of Jesus can only be determined by examining the evidence. Deciding ahead of time that miracles are impossible only begs the question against the resurrection. Let’s allow the evidence to speak for itself.

Here are three quick facts that support the claim that Jesus rose from the dead.

FACT 1: Jesus died on the cross. The evidence for Jesus’ death by crucifixion is overwhelming. First, there is the fact that all four gospels report Jesus’ death. Second, the nature of the crucifixion virtually guaranteed death. Crucifixion was scientifically honed by the Romans to utterly torture victims. Third, the spear in the side reported by John (ch. 19), in which water and blood recede, is medical evidence that Jesus was dead. Fourth, there is extra-biblical evidence (Tacitus and Josephus) who report that Jesus died by crucifixion.

FACT 2: The tomb of Jesus was found empty on the third day. While there are multiple arguments for the empty tomb, let’s consider one of my favorites. Amazingly, the tomb was discovered by women. In Palestine around the time of Christ women were not educated or considered reliable sources of information. In fact, Josephus reports that women could not even testify in a court of law. Thus, if the disciples simply fabricated the story of the resurrection they never would have chosen women to be the first eyewitnesses. This embarrassing account by the disciples is convincing proof that, when they wrote about the empty tomb of Jesus, they were recording truth.

FACT 3: Jesus appeared to people after his death. One of the best evidences for the appearances of Jesus is in 1 Corinthians 15:3-8. Paul recites a creed that can be traced back to within 3-5 years of the death of Jesus. Historically speaking, this is an incredibly early account. Paul records that Jesus appeared to the disciples and also to 500 people. Some claim that Jesus only appeared to his followers. But this is not true. Jesus appeared to James, who did not believe in him during his life (John 7:5). Jesus also appeared to Paul, who was persecuting Christians (Galatians 1). Some have tried to explain the appearances away as hallucinations, but hallucinations don’t appear to groups (anymore than groups of people can share the same dream). The disciples were also not ripe candidates for hallucinations.

There is so much more that could be said about why the resurrection of Jesus is credible. The question we have to ask is, What explanation best accounts for all the facts? When all the facts are taken into consideration, the biblical account stands far above the rest. But why does the resurrection matter? For one thing, Paul says that if Jesus did not resurrect then our faith is in vain (1 Corinthians 15:14, 17). But the resurrection also shows that God can be trusted. The disciples were utterly scared and confused at the arrest of Jesus. All of their hopes and dreams were shattered. They thought that God had abandoned them. But God never let go of the steering wheel, even when everything seemed hopeless! In fact, God was completely in charge the entire time. And the same is true for us. The resurrection tells us that God is good, God can be trusted, and that the pain and evil in the world will ultimately be redeemed for good.

The Obama family has been exposed for their arrogance and heavy spending in light of America going through this crisis. If we do nothing else, we should salute all these people for allowing us to look into their lives and expose their laundry. Think about it, two years ago if someone said the American republic will open your wallet, health care records, and spending habits for public view, how many Americans would be willing to have such an expose' of their personal life? I am absolutely beside myself of how these candidates have been so scandalously been treated by the media. I am a common person enraged by the media in this election and how stupid they consider American citizens. Go back to school and educate yourselves about filling Americans full of your world views!!!! I am angry at the DRIVE BY MEDIA acting as though they have to tell me what THEY want me to know!!!! I am upset. I am hearing from the media that they are upset with Palin? Why are they not upset with Biden? He warns us we will have a new terrorist attack within the next 6 months? If Sarah had said this fact she would have been hung up to dry without details, but Biden can say this without any proof of why he knows this can happen? I am sick of the DRIVE BY MEDIA. ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN.

It is time we get respectable media coverage for an election for the FIRST TIME IN MY LIFETIME! It is shameful that Dan Rather points out how unfair the media is to this brave, beautiful person!
Also, it is far time the public knows Palin received free clothes for the campaign to give to to charity after use is done. I guess that is a crime. I deduct my clothes and lab coats for work as I am expected to look professional in my job. Is Obama going to stop allowing me to deduct my work clothes? As I work 20 days a month and I wear very casual clothing when I am off, I think a help with professional clothing as my job demands should be deductible. Palin should be able to look professional for VP as she is looking at a very high powered job!

Any woman with skin knows this much about fashion! Lay off the woman! You are pissing off all professional woman in America and that is a huge mistake. Or keep pissing us off and we will know the black mans ability to respect women in society!

Hey I am voting for McCain because he follows the republican crowd. I am an independent voter, and never entertained the idea of voting for Hillary as she was a communist PIG! If I have to choose between a lipstick pig or a communist pig, give me lipstick everyday. Palin is a female but not a femanatzi! She is tough, but family oriented, she is a great representative of her gender, but she can cross gender lines because she is tough. Please put to rest the argument about her stance on the bridge to nowhere. I recall during her run as Governor in Alaska, she said I will vote for the bridge if it benefits Alaskans....Sometimes as a person running for a governmental seat, you see how something is wasteful spending that is popular with the people and you feel is not good and you have to say...

Let me look at this, I am going to do what is right, and she did, she said I will vote for the bridge if it is what is good for Alaska, and then when she was in office and had a birds eye view of the bridge, she rejected it. That is good politics and the reason it is an issue with Democrats is because they want to discredit her ability. To me I reinforces why she should be McCains VP! Please Sarah, keep being a crafty woman with a real perspective on real life, unlike the democrat clowns trying to discredit you! I am not into this weird worship the media claims women are into! Strike through text. ~~This is a test for strike through text. ok see how it works. I have wondered how this was done. Here is how to do it.~~

Using strikethrough font in blogger is ~~overrated and entails an extremely convoluted process~~ helpful and very easy to implement. It uses a simple html tag, which is just code that tells your editor how to display certain things. Html tags have to be opened and closed. Tags are opened by putting a greater than sign (<), then the tag content, followed by a lesser than sign (>). They are closed by doing the same process except with a backslash (/) before the tag content.

To strike through a word, make sure you are on the "edit html" tab and then surround the word you wish to strike through with an "s" tag. So now you have it, the power to make contradictions, and point counterpoints all in one.

Substituting the "s" in these examples will perform various functions. For example, "b" for bold; "i" for italics; etc. Strikethrough will work for posts, but not for comments in blogger.

Now that you know how to strike through words, your posts will ~~look pretty much the same as before~~ certainly look innovative and creative.

Note: to use strike through font in ~~an inferior blogging medium~~ Wordpress posts and comments, replace the "s" in the above examples with "strike".

In autumn of 1621, with another winter approaching, instead of begging God for more blessing, the Pilgrims' profound faith in God led Governor William Bradford to set aside a day for public Thanksgiving in gratitude for the blessings already received. The Pilgrims were heeding the many Bible references to the importance of "thanksgiving."

History tells us that Chief Massosoit was invited. He brought 60 braves, 5 dressed deer and a dozen wild turkeys. Even popcorn helped to celebrate this first great Thanksgiving Day, which lasted three whole days, so deep felt and abounding was their gratitude to God.

Squanto helped the Pilgrims survive their first grim years at Plymouth Colony. His wonderful work with the Pilgrims brought a relationship of peace and helpfulness between the settlers and the Indians that would last more than fifty years.

SEVIERVILLE -- A veteran Sevier County sheriff's officer passed away Thursday. Sgt. Mike Fisher died of an apparent heart attack, according to Sheriff Ron Seals. "Sgt. Fisher contributed a great deal to the success of the Sevier County Sheriff's Department and will be greatly missed by the members of our department and the community. He will be remembered for his devotion to the department, his family and Sevier County," the sheriff said in a statement. Mike was a really nice man, helpful , friendly and intelligent. He always offered to help those in need and did. Member of the GPHS class of 1974 ,He will be missed by all . Funeral services will be held at the Atchley Funeral Home at 100 East Main Street in Sevierville .

Friday , July 27 -2007 I was at the Sevier County Courthouse paying some of my land taxes and running errands for myself. As I walked down the hallway , I looked straight at JUDY WATSON after all these years. She said that she works for the District Atty here in Sevierville, on the 3rd floor of the Court House. I did not have my camera with me, so there is no photo. She said to tell everyone hello, and she may attend the next reunion in 2012, wow that seems a long way off. TC

I just talked to David Henry from our class today Saturday July 20-2007. I was driving down Boogertown road and saw him standing outside in his yard. I pulled in and he began to talk. He said he was working for Kent Woods , running a bulldozer and has been the last 15 years. He asked me what I was doing and I told him. We talked about how the tourist numbers have been way down this year, due to the price of gas. I agree with him , some of our business is off about 40% from this time last year. I told him I would stop by again when I get more time, most likely on a Saturday afternoon. I didn't tell him but I will bring my camera next time and post a new article and a photo of him. TC

Jared Savage, completed Marine Corp boot camp at Parris Island SC on Friday June 8. This young man was went into training to emerge as a Marine ! The whole family is sooooo proud of him and his accomplishments. We all realize his dedication to accomplish this goal will only add more goals to this great first! Jared said Parris Island made him who he is, but he was very happy to be leaving Parris Island. SEMPER FI

He was getting into a Gatlinburg city vehicle when I said " Teddy" , he turned around and said , "Well Hello ". I told him I was going to take his picture but , he at first resisted , but here it is. He said to tell everyone that see's this ,hello. He is doing well and told me he has worked for Gatlinburg since the mill shut down. (Dan River AKA Cherokee Textile Mill in Sevierville) It was great to see him .
